Water Mirror

Light is reflected by water surfaces in this series of tapestries. The movements of the water draw patterns influenced by the stream, the wind, by fish or birds. Sometimes the water draws feather light repetitive gentle rhythms in calm water. Other times it creates shapes with sharply defined edges and in some sites whirls occur with complex, soft shapes.

The movements are emphasized by light. Sometimes by the clear bright sunlight, sometimes by diffuse light in cloudy weather, or electric light at night and not a single day we see the same picture in the water.

Though the tapestries do not necessarily appear in the same colours as the sea there is no doubt about the starting point. Weaves of varying structures, and materials of different nature, gloss or faintness, emphasize the light and the movements.
