Spectrum 2006

In order to weave this spectrum I worked on a comprehensive colour-palette based on traditional weaves when I realized that I was not obliged to work in this way – with thread control I had the total freedom to make the coloured threads appear wherever I wanted.

The colour-spectrum was then reduced to pixels of 8 colours red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow, black and white and I constructed a weave based on the pixels where the coloured threads appeared in the weave in the same order as the coloured pixels appeared in each pixel line of the motif. The result was a new expression in woven textile with very smooth colour-gradations and fade-outs.
